HOT ROLLED STEEL (HR)
Hot rolled steel sheets are produced by rolling steel at temperatures above its re-crystallization point; typically over 1700°F. At this elevated temperature, steel becomes more malleable, making it easier to shape, form, and produce in larger sizes, ideal for heavy-duty industrial applications. While hot rolling allows for efficient processing, the steel cools and shrinks slightly after milling, which results in less dimensional control compared to cold rolled products.

HOT ROLLING, PICKLING
& OILING TREATMENT (HRPO)
Hot rolling at high temperatures often leaves behind a discoloured oxide layer on the surface of the steel. To address this, the material undergoes a pickling process, where it is treated with acid to remove rust, scale, and surface contaminants, resulting in a cleaner and more uniform finish. Following pickling, the steel is coated with a protective oil layer to prevent oxidation during storage and handling. This treatment improves the steel’s surface quality and extends its shelf life.
